DAILY TRAVEL INSPIRATION: Prague

Nicknamed “the city of one hundred spires” Prague is full of historic buildings and winding streets that cry out to be explored. Spread over a number of islands in the Vltava river connected by over thirty bridges, the capital of Czechia has something to offer no matter what your taste.

Start your adventure in the Old Town Square, which hosts concerts, markets and political rallies, before stopping off at one of the many grand cafes for cake, coffee and people watching. Art connoisseurs can follow public sculpture trails around the city. Prague is well known for its breweries and there are many bars that specialise in obscure, unusual and limited edition beers. As well as being delicious, these are great for washing down huge plates of traditional Czech dumplings; perfect for keeping you warm in the cold winter.

If you are feeling very brave, take a hike in the park at Divoká Šárka and follow woodland paths to an outdoor swimming pool. The water comes from a nearby stream and is often frozen over in winter. Join the locals for an icy swim if you dare.
