DAILY TRAVEL INSPIRATION: Abu Dhabi

Located on an island in the Persian Gulf, Abu Dhabi has long been a major transport hub. Recently the city has built several new attractions to encourage visitors to extend their stopover in Abu Dhabi to more than the airport.

Motor racing fans should head straight to Yas Island, which houses a race track and the Ferrari World theme park. Here you can try your hand at karting, see iconic Ferrari designs in the museum and ride at 240km per hour on the world’s fastest rollercoaster amongst other attractions. The island also has a waterpark, shopping mall and golf course if you’re after a more relaxing trip.

The biggest attraction for many visitors is the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. This incredible building is the largest mosque in the country and the flooring in the main hall is thought to be the largest handmade carpet in the world, taking over 2 years to complete, not to mention the beautiful chandeliers, carvings and architecture.
