Once divided by a wall, Berlin is now a major world city with a booming economy. Home to top universities, high tech start ups and a thriving arts scene, Berlin has an incredible amount to offer to visitors.

While much of the Berlin Wall was demolished after 1989, a section nearly a mile long still stands as the East Side Gallery. Over 100 paintings and murals decorate the wall. Many have political undertones and reflect the optimism felt at the time of reunification. The area is particularly popular with photographers – the murals make a great backdrop for a selfie or two.

Berlin is also notable for its intense party scene. With no official closing time for clubs, many parties go on all night and into the next day, with some like the Panorama Bar and The Weekend Club having incredible views and roof terraces to watch the sunrise. If pulling an all-nighter isn’t your thing, then check out the art galleries, quirky boutiques and hipster cafes that form Berlin’s alternative scene.
