Located on the eastern tip of the Dominican Republic, the warm Caribbean Sea and soft sandy beaches make Punta Cana a top destination for travelers in search of serious relaxation.

For many visitors, their entire visit to the Dominican Republic will be spent in a resort. There are ones to suit every budget and many that offer all-inclusive food and drink for the ultimate no hassle holiday. Many of the best beaches are linked to resorts, but public access is permitted by law so don’t worry about exploring the coastline.

Away from the resorts, a trip to Santo Domingo is worthwhile. The first European settlement in the Western hemisphere, this is the beginning of colonialism. Check out the 16th century Spanish architecture or the caves in the Mirador del Sol Park – one of which has been converted into a restaurant.
