DAILY TRAVEL INSPIRATION: Antalya

Turkey’s biggest seaside resort town is Antalya on the Mediterranean coast. With pleasant temperatures all year round, great beaches and fantastic local culture, Antalya is a perfect destination for those looking to experience a different side to the classic Mediterranean getaway.

The Romans arrived in Antalya in 2nd century BC and they harbour they built is still in use today. As commercial shipping has moved away from the centre of town, the harbour is now a marina for pleasure boats and cruises. Watch the comings and goings from the many cafes and tea gardens surrounding the harbour, or take the cliff side elevator up to Cumhuriyet to overlook the whole coast.

A great way to learn more about the region is to visit the Antalya Museum. Discover beautifully decorated sarcophagi from thousands of years ago, well preserved statues of ancient gods and treasures from the Byzantine era.
