DAILY TRAVEL INSPIRATION: Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia and the sixth most visited city in the world, with almost 9 million tourists per year. There’s plenty to see in the city and it’s a great stopover point on a longer journey.
The most iconic sight in Kuala Lumpur is undoubtedly the Petronas Towers, two enormous identical skyscrapers connected by a bridge. Take a tour up the towers to step out on the sky bridge on the 41st floor, before heading up to the observation deck on the 86th floor. Below the towers is an upmarket shopping centre and a pretty park with playgrounds, fountains and paddling pools, ideal for cooling down.
Jalan Alor may look like a normal street during the day, but each evening it becomes an enormous outdoor restaurant. Tables and chairs are put out on the road and vendors call out to attract customers. You can sample all types of cuisine, from local Malay to Thai or Chinese specialties. Wander up and down the street until something catches your eye – it’s sure to be delicious!
