Brazil’s biggest city, Sao Paulo is bustling modern metropolis. Known for it’s horrendous traffic and unpredictable weather, there’s plenty to explore; beat the traffic in one of the city’s helicopter taxis and don’t forget an umbrella!

Sao Paulo is also notable for its melting pot population. There are communities from almost every country on Earth, which has made Sao Paulo a world class cultural destination. Visit an art house cinema or take in some experimental theatre, sample innovative high class cuisine or party all night in some of the hippest bars in South America.

To learn more about the history of Brazil, visit the Museu Afro-Brasil in Ibirapuera Park. While colonial histories of South America are common, this museum focusses on the role people of African origin and descent have played in founding and building modern Brazil. Covering everything from the slave trade to modern art, it’s a fascinating insight in to an often ignored part of history.
